 Grand National Assembly of Turkey Is Founded (1920)The treaty negotiated between the Allies and the Ottoman Empire at the end of WWI liquidated the Ottoman Empire and virtually abolished Turkish sovereignty, but nationalists under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk were committed to establishing a sovereign Turkish state. This is the first great laugh of the day. I'm an old sort of white woman who once started having hallucinations--I was in my mid fifties at the time, and I heard someone like Ludacris blaring Hoes Map in my head as I went about my days of caring for my mother who crapped her pants and didn't know who I was but remember that she hated me. Then what was just terribly annoying (hearing Ludicris) became really horrifying when a quartet of lovely old black men dressed in nice, but threadbare dark suits with white shirts and ties, and nice dark black dress shoes sang the "Hoes Map." I finally picked up the phone and dialed 911
